The Australian arm of global telco Vodafone has wasted no time in alerting Apple that it’s dead keen to start selling the iPad down under!
Vodafone Hutchison Australia, the local arm of global telco Vodafone, has put out a brief statement signalling great interest in Apple’s new iPad.
It’s hardly a surprise, however, given the enormous success of the iPhone and iPod Touch.
Seeing as the iPad has a 3G option, telcos are sure to want to get a piece of the data download action, even if some telco networks (ahem, Optus) have network speeds that seem akin to dial-up for its iPhone users.
Of course, we’re all yet to see if the iPad is Skype compatible, something that will allow some form of phone calling to be made through the device seeing as there appears to be no native phone calling capabilities, but hey – it just means more data being used by network users.
So, what words of interest did Vodafone send forth to the media today?
Very simply, they were as follows:
“Vodafone Hutchison Australia (VHA) is very interested in the Apple iPad unveiled in the US today. Vodafone and 3 offer some of Australia’s highest value prepaid and contract mobile broadband plans and the exciting and innovative Apple iPad would be a welcome addition to our product range.
“Vodafone Hutchison Australia will soon commence discussions with Apple regarding the availability of the Apple iPad in Australia. The latest news on Vodafone and 3 products and services, including any updates on the possible availability and pricing of the new Apple iPad, will be posted on www.vodafone.com.au and www.three.com.au.”
