Expand Networks has added support for VMware View 4 remote display protocols to its Accelerator WAN optimisation products.
Expand Networks' Accelerator products use technologies including compression, caching, and protocol optimisation to get the most out of wide area network links.
They now support all VMware View 4 remote display protocols, including Teradici PCoIP, RDP and ALP, along with ThinApp traffic prioritisation and the optimisation of multimedia and redirected USB traffic.
"At Expand we are fully aligned with VMware View and are able to offer a unique virtualised WAN optimisation solution that helps assure the user experience across physical, virtual and mobile appliances," said Efi Gatmor, chief technology officer at Expand.
"Our integrated technology, flexibly delivered as a Virtual Accelerator, Accelerator appliance or as Mobile Client software continues to evolve to help ensure we can add significant value to the burgeoning market for virtualised desktops," added Gatmor.
VMware welcomed the announcement.
"Expand's multi-facetted technology helps enable all remote desktop protocols to be delivered over the WAN in a VMware View environment, improving communication efficiency, quality of service and security for customers with virtual desktop WAN deployments," said Scott Davis, chief technology officer for VMware's desktop business unit.
"Expand provides unique technology – such as its ability to work with the UDP transport protocol to support PCoIP with secure tunnelling – that helps customers protect their virtualisation investments while facilitating growth and longevity of their virtual desktop deployments," he added.
