Alloy Products to distribute Zultys IP PBX & UC products

IT Industry - Strategy

IP telephony and unified communications systems developer, Zultys, has appointed Alloy Computer Products as its second Australian distributor, in addition to Avnet.

Alloy will distribute the complete range of Zultys products: its SIP-based MX30 and MX250 IP PBX, IP phones, MXIE unified communications software and MXmeeting web conferencing platforms through its Australia-wide network of resellers.

Zultys claims that its MX250 and MX30 'All-in-One' IP-PBX appliances scale to support from 10 to 10,000 users in a single company-wide unified communications system, making separate offices appear as a single entity, all managed from a single interface. Its distributed architecture is claimed to ensure 100 percent local survivability in the event of network outages.

Zultys entered the Australian market for the second time in early 2007 and appointed Westan as an Australian distributor in mid 2007, but two months later Westan took on rival vendor ShoreTel. At that time ChannelWorx and Anixter were also Zultys distributors.

Martin Trigg, Zultys' regional director for Australia and New Zealand, told iTWire: "Back in 2007 Zultys briefly appointed Westan in place of Anixter but the arrangement proved to be a poor fit for both companies and thus we went our separate ways within a few months. ChannelWorx, a Zultys distributor since 2005, was purchased by Avnet in late 2007 and thus Avnet became the Zultys distributor. Avnet is currently a Zultys distributor."

He added: "Alloy is very much a full service distributor and I am confident they will prove to be a great fit for the Zultys channel."

Zultys was founded in October 2001 by Iain Milnes. It opened its Australian office in Sydney in mid 2003 with an initial staff of 13. After getting into financial difficulties and filing for chapter 11 in October 2006, Zultys was bought for $US2.65 million by Israeli-based PBX manufacturer Telrad Connegy, which immediately adopted the Zultys name, folding its existing VoIP business, Pivot, into Zultys. The company re-entered Australia in early 2007 with Trigg as regional director.
