Communications minister Helen Coonan has released a DCITA report: "Trust and growth in the online environment" detailing the findings of a survey of the perceptions, experiences and security practices of Australians who transact online.
The survey found that ten million Australians now use the Internet for transactions, and that for many the convenience of using the Internet far outweighed any security concerns. However, it stressed that some Australians who transact online should do more to improve their online security.
The Department plans to conduct focus group studies on online trust to explore issues identified in the survey.
More information and the report are available from the DCITA web site,
