Telstra has launched a consumer website (
http://www.nowwearetalking.com.au) to "better inform and engage Australian consumers in the debate about the importance of telecommunications to their lives and the national economy".
The site will include "candid weblogs" from Telstra employees and follows Telstra's November launch of a podcasting service. On the website are Telstra's opinions, plus "the vision of industry commentators, peak industry associations, academics and consumer representatives," including, Telstra says "those whose opinions that are at variance with Telstra".
Consumers, shareholders and other visitors to the site are also encouraged to enter the debate by posting comments and opinions on the issues raised. The usual "rules of engagement" apply, including no defamatory, threatening, libellous or abusive comment.
The website also includes the first edition of a scorecard which "begins to measure the impact of specific regulation on Telstra's customers and shareholders - as well as taxpayers."
