Telstra has revealed the addition of almost one million new mobile services in the six months to December 2011, but Sensis revenues plummeted 24 percent in 12 months.
Clarity International, a fully owned subsidiary of ASX-listed Powerlan, has been awarded a contract by Telekom Malaysia to supply an enterprise wide network inventory management system.
This initial contract, for a subset of Clarity OSS (operations support system), comprises initial licence and implementation support services fees, and is worth a minimum $3.6m to Clarity, Powerlan said in a statement to the ASX.
Telekom Malaysia is the dominant operator in the Malaysian market, controlling 95 percent of the fixed line market, 56 percent of the Internet market, and 40 percent of the mobile market. Clarity won the deal through an international tender and, according to Powerlan, was chosen "for its ability to manage both existing and next generation networks and its track record in successfully implementing the system in complex tier 1 telcos".
Clarity will consolidate and replace over 30 legacy systems, providing Telekom Malaysia with a single shared data master for all current and planned networks. Clarity will also model, manage and support the continuous improvement of Telekom Malaysia's inventory management processes which are based on the industry standard Enhanced Telecommunications Operations Map (ETOM).
Clarity and Powerlan CEO, Tomislav Matic, said: "we are excited about opportunities for further business within Telekom Malaysia and its subsidiaries in twelve countries around the globe. Network inventory management is only a subset of the Clarity OSS. We are confident that...as they realise the benefits that end-to-end pre-integrated OSS delivers to their business, Telekom Malaysia will eventually roll out full Clarity OSS across its entire business, just like our other major customers. The potential value of this win to Clarity is thus many times higher than the face value of this initial deal."
Clarity will be delivered and integrated into Telekom Malaysia by Clarity's local partner, Malaysian ICT solutions provider, Apex Communication Sdn Bhd. Other Clarity customers in the region include PLDT (Philippines) and SLT (Sri Lanka), AAPT and India's Reliance InfoCom.
