Buroserv signs wholesale deal with Telstra, offers full outsourced service for telco resellers

IT Industry - Strategy

New telecom market entrant Buroserv is offering a complete telco service package of services, billing and customer management using BearingPoint's Infonova platform - the same product as underpins AAPT's Hyperbaric OSS/BSS - along with wholesale services from Telstra and a number of other carriers.

Buroserv, headed by the former CTO of Commander Communications, Lakshman Mawalagedera, has been developing its business for several months and Mawalagedera told iTWire that the wholesale deal with Telstra, for telephony and a suite of other fixed line resale products, was the key element needed to enable the company to start serving customers.

It also has wholesale deals in place with AAPT/Telecom New Zealand for long distance and international services and with NEC subsidiary Nextep for business grade broadband, and is in negotiations with Optus to resell mobile broadband on the Optus 3G network. It is also negotiating with Telstra to resell 2G mobile services. Mawalagedera said "a lot of the service providers we talk to are happy using that and we are in discussion with Telstra to do so."

He told iTWire the company would be targeting "run of the mill traditional service providers," vertical markets and "associations that want to get into the telecoms business but cannot do so because of the limits of systems... There are vertical markets that have thought about getting into telecoms services but did not know how to go about doing it. That is new and untapped territory."

He added: "We can offer a full turnkey system and let them worry about managing and marketing their brand to their customer base...We are now in the process of actively engaging with the clients we had on tap."

The key to Buroserv's offering is the Infonova OSS/BSS. In February Buroserv announced an agreement with Austrian company, Infonova, to implement its multi tenant BSS platform to provide specialised white label back-office and front office solutions to the telecommunications industry.

According to Infonova: "Buroserv's approach is as simple as this: offer high quality front and back office services on a managed basis. Buroserv's customers benefit from a significantly reduced opex and IT risks, shorter time to market with new products and services as well as the combined buying power of a bureau.
