Downer CTG outsources support for Huawei gear to NCR

IT Industry - Strategy

Downer Communications Technology Group (CTG), a business unit of Downer Engineering, set up last year to be the exclusive Australian distributor of telecoms equipment from Chinese manufacturer, Huawei, has appointed NCR's Worldwide Customer Services (WCS) division to provide field support for Huawei products.

The division will provide help desk services, level one and two diagnostics, on-site fault rectification and staging, installation and deployment of the Huawei range of products.

Mike Williams, general manager Downer CTG, said: "NCR will be providing key components of our Downer ServicePlus offering including sparing and on-site support services to our channel partners selling Huawei's...datacom solutions into the enterprise market."

WCS' area general manager, South Pacific, Noel Pettitt, said: "NCR is a household name globally in the banking, finance and retail sectors. However, the portfolio of services we offer, which includes a wide range of IT infrastructure services and managed services, transcends these two markets into a range of environments including telecommunications, OEMs and travel & transportation.

"We have a global methodology and expertise in the implementation and management of high end enterprise networks, comprising a host of best-in-class third party products and solutions, and Downer has endorsed these capabilities by selecting us as a services partner to grow their enterprise-level business in Australia."
