Twitter followers can (sometimes) be bought

IT Industry - Strategy

There are a couple of obvious examples of commercial organisations that 'get' Twitter.

Dell for instance is looking to expand its presence in social media – offering a discount to the first 50 followers and also promising to open communications channels.

However, a much bigger player locally is Panasonic.  Fresh from a month-long program to grow its social media presence on both Facebook and Twitter, where daily competitions gave away a Wii for a variety of zany themes, Panasonic has announced customer support will be offered via Twitter, YouTube and Facebook.

Brett Buckingham, Director, Customer Care, Panasonic Australia said "it was an important step in meeting changing customer needs.

"More and more people are turning to social media services to receive information about our products and we see this as an important addition to our customer service capability,"

"This is another way that Panasonic is looking to help customers get the best possible experience from its wide range of products."

For those interested, Panasonic can be contacted via Twitter, Facebook, or YouTube.
