Telstra has revealed the addition of almost one million new mobile services in the six months to December 2011, but Sensis revenues plummeted 24 percent in 12 months.
A newly-formed company called iVision aims to be a one-stop shop for corporate and public sector organisations looking to implement unified communications (UC). iVision was created from the merger of Integrated Vision and Unify.
According to iVision's managing director Graham Williams, CIOs are well aware of what's available in the unified communications market and what it can do, but they want help in identifying the business value that it can deliver. They also want to avoid becoming their own systems integrator (SI).
And that's where iVision's focus on consulting and service - as well as the ability to deliver a complete unified communication system including a core network installation or upgrade - comes in.
Integrated Vision previously specialised in visual communication (eg, videoconferencing), while Unify's focus was on networking and IP telephony. The two companies' skill sets dovetailed well to form a UC specialist SI.
Industry sectors showing particular interest in UC include recruitment, health, education, finance, energy, law, and accountancy.
"I want to grow organically from here," Williams told iTWire, suggesting that growth from $A55 million to $A100 million is achievable over the next three years.
Contracts worth $A1 million are common, with some in the $A7-10 million range.
Various broader trends are driving the adoption of UC, he said. These include a desire to reduce travel expenditure, environmental considerations, generational change (a reduction in the size of the workforce as boomers retire, coupled with younger workers' disinclination to work excessively long hours), and concern about health issues (eg SARS and swine flu) affecting mobility and staff availability.
iVision is a Cisco gold partner, and claims to be the largest Polycom reseller in Australia and New Zealand, and the largest Tandberg reseller in Asia Pacific. Its customer list includes Google, Ergon Energy and Monash University.
The Melbourne-based company has more than 100 employees, with additional offices in Adelaide, Brisbane and Sydney.
