Mobile operators get fixed price spectrum renewal in $3b Government windfall

The Government has offered Australia's three mobile operators, and vividwireless, renewal of their existing spectrum allocated on 15 year licences in the late 90s and early 2000s at set prices, while the Government expects to rake in $3 billion.

Microsoft's COO Kevin Turner was also recently quoted in CNet as saying, "We're going to have some retail stores opened up that are opened up right next door to Apple stores this fall."

Microsoft first announced its plans for retail stores last February, in conjunction with its hiring of a former Wal-Mart executive.

At the time, Microsoft only promised a "small number of stores."

Apple, for its part, currently has more than 250 stores around the world.
