The comment added, "As we previously announced, we are on track to open retail stores this Fall."Microsoft first announced its plans for retail stores last February, in conjunction with its hiring of a former Wal-Mart executive.
At the time, Microsoft only promised a "small number of stores."
Apple, for its part, currently has more than 250 stores around the world.
