Basslink set to meet H1 in-service date, just

IT Industry - Strategy

Basslink expects to complete the Victorian terrestrial component of its network in time to meet its plans to be carrying customer traffic by the end of June.

General manager, Michael Coates, told iTWire "We are anticipating customer traffic flowing on Basslink in the bracket dates of 24 - 30 June. We are completing our fibre build activities in Victoria this week and end-to-end testing will be completed the following week with customer service activations to follow."

Late last year the company was flagging an in-service date of January but put this back first to March or April and then to June saying the delay was due to negotiations with the provider of terrestrial capacity from its Victorian termination at Loy Yang power station into Melbourne.

Coates told iTWire this week that the company was installing its own fibre from Loy Yang to Traralgon (about 10kms) where it would connect into capacity from another provider.
