Comms Alliance says NBN industry consensus difficult to achieve

IT Industry - Strategy

The paper says that "Early work on defining the types of passive, active and resalable wholesale services supplied by NBN Co will be pivotal in progressing work in other work areas involving technical, operational and end-user premises issues."

It notes also that "Clarity on how the geographic (metro, regional, rural) and end user markets (consumer, small business, large business) effect the types of wholesale services to be supplied will be important in establishing baselines for further investment by service providers in networks, systems and products."

Comms Alliance is seeking comments and feedback on the discussion paper by 22 June and is looking for industry players able to contribute resources to the work outlined in the paper. It will establish an online collaboration 'NBN Wiki' to facilitate input and discussion for each of the work areas, and expects work to commence in earnest by the end of June 2009.

The paper was authored by Gary McLaren who authored the first NBN discussion paper used as starting point for NBN forums held by Comms Alliance in Melbourne and Sydney last month.
