Vodafone Australia and Hutchison Australia have consummated their deal to merge and are now one.

Completion of the deal was announced in a brief statement from Vodafone Group in the UK which said: "Further to the announcement of 9 February 2009 and obtaining all necessary regulatory and shareholder approvals, Vodafone announces today that the merger of Vodafone Australia Limited and Hutchison 3G Australia Pty Limited has been completed."

The two companies have formed a 50:50 joint venture, VHA, as announced in February. Completion of the merger follows a statement from the ACCC late last month that it would not oppose the deal because it did not believe it would diminish competition in the mobile market.
