Aussie companies rethink offshoring: Report

IT Industry - Strategy

IDC reports that, while the Australia IT services market is impacted by the global, economic slowdown, it has not yet seen any proof or indication of a reduction in ICT service budgets and, instead, predicts that spend on outsourcing services is likely to increase as customers channel spend allocated to IT consulting and systems integration (C&SI) projects to the outsourcing projects.

IDC’s program manager for ICT services/BPO in Australia, Aprajita Sharma, says, however, it will be in the best interest for market outsourcing leaders to “differentiate their outsourcing strategies to cater to a very ‘cost-conscious’ market.

“In these conditions, unless the outsourcer is able to provide service that is value for money or ‘more for less’, clients are not going to be attracted by the solutions proposed to them," Sharma cautions.
