Satyam receives Indo-Australian award

Global outsourcer Satyam Computer Services, has received the Indo-Australian Business Excellency Award from the Australian Government, for supporting industry growth and development, and investing in local human capital.

The award is backed by business and government bodies, such as Invest Australia, Austrade, Australia-India Council, Western Australian Trade Offices, Export Import Bank Of India, and Indo-Australian Chamber Of Commerce.

Mr Virender Aggarwal, director, senior vice president, and head of APAC region, Satyam, said, 'We are extremely honored with the recognition through this award, and glad that our efforts to contribute to create wealth and harness the local IT talent, have been well received, by the people and the Government of Australia . We have always believed in delivering world-class business solutions, and our Australia operations have, in the past one year effortlessly worked, and contributed towards the same. We look forward to continue our efforts and deliver the best-of-breed solutions to our customers, and sustain our ability to nurture the local IT talent.'

Commenting on the occasion, Mr Garry Draffin, CEO, Invest Australia, said,  "Satyam's decision to establish three Asia Pacific Centers of Excellence in Australia, including its largest global development centre outside of India, reflects Australia's appeal as an Asia Pacific regional headquarters. The investment by Satyam is important for Australia as it promises to bring to our shores, new skills, new technology and new knowledge as well as new jobs."

Mr Draffin, further added, "The advantages offered by Australia have seen the stock of Foreign Direct Investment in the country soar by 150% to a record US$250 billion over the four years to March 2005. I am pleased that Invest Australia has been able to assist Satyam to find their competitive edge in Australia. I look forward to continuing the relationship, as well as helping other Indian companies discover what Australia has to offer."

Satyam has three Asia-Pacific Centers of Excellence for Ingenium, Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing, along with its largest global development centre outside India, in Australia.
