Called "Della," Dell's new female-oriented website features attractive models, cute computers, and nonthreatening tech tips.
Della 's computers, all being used by carefully multicultural women of the sort that populate yogurt ads, are touted for their stylish colors as much as their speedy processors.
The page for Mini netbooks, for example, starts by urging the customer to "choose the color and size that suit you best."
The rest of the copy makes it clear that, when it comes to netbooks at least, you can't be too light or too thin.
The laptop page offers to let the customer "choose from hundreds of Studio laptop designs."
The "tech tips" page, after cooing over how cute netbooks are, explains how netbooks can help you find recipes online and watch cooking videos, download meditation and yoga podcasts, and keep track of calories and carbs.
(To be fair, it also explains how to use a netbook as an e-book reader, maintain a to-do list with Remember the Milk, and use Google Docs rather than buying applications.)
