Optus bundles fixed and mobile minutes & Gbytes for SMBs

IT Industry - Strategy

Optus has expanded its Total Business Cap plans for SMEs that enable a company to spread its total monthly mobile call volumes or mobile data volumes across multiple users to include, respectively, fixed voice minutes and fixed network data volumes.

So, for example a company could pay $499 per month and get call minutes worth up to $2100 that could be spread across 2-12 users and across fixed line and mobile voice services. Similarly for $329 per month it could get 15Gbytes of data that could be transferred over an Optus DSL service, Optus wireless broadband modem or Optus handsets used by up to 12 employees.

According to Phil Offer, marketing director, Optus small and medium business, "this is the first plan in Australia for small business that enables you so share value across fixed and mobile service." Offer said that one of the early customers to take the service found it had reduced their overall call costs by about 25 percent." He added, "They also find they can make more savings from reduced administration time."

Optus launched its mobile service Total Business Caps last August and Offer said that, since last month it had been offering customers upgrades to include fixed line voice and data services under the new plans.

The services are offered on 12 or 24 month contract plans and come with varying amounts of equipment credits. Customers on the 12 user voice plan get $1200 and on the $329 data plan $480. Overall the plans cater from 2-3 users to 2-75 and for voice range in prices from $149 per month ($600 of call value) to $2999, ($15,000 of call value). Underlying call rates are the same across all plans. The mobile data plans range in price form $79 for 4Gb shared between two or three users to $1499 for up 75 users and 65GB.
