Telarus to offer Optus 3G data services & virtual hosting

IT Industry - Strategy

Telarus wil also offer EMC's Mozy remote backup services. "You install some backup software on a laptop or desktop and you can configure it to back up over the network to secure storage in the data centre, and the data is encrypted in transit and in storage," Rumsey said.

Expansion of channel programme
Overall, he said that Telarus would be able to add value to its virtualisation offerings by being able to integrate these with its communications services. "We have traditionally done co-location but we wanted to have something more easily integrated to the network...We can provision a private cloud for the client where we can guarantee performance and we can guarantee security."

To take these new offerings and its existing services to market Telarus is expanding its channel programme. Rumsey said that, at present, about 50 percent of sales came from about 50 channel partner and the remainder from a large in-house sales force.

"We are restructuring the sales force to give the channel more attention and will introduce on or two new programmes that will allow us to better segment the partners and there will some changes to the commission structure."

He added: "We have no shortage of people who approach us looking for partnerships and we see a lot of opportunities. In some cases they have been looking for wholesale offerings and that does not really suit our existing partner programme."

Telarus is also looking to appoint channel partners in New Zealand. Rumsey said: "NZ it is still gearing up we are putting a lot of time to explore the partner and customer opportunities there. Some are now pretty close to signing and some potential partners that have given us some leads we are working on."
