Telstra has revealed the addition of almost one million new mobile services in the six months to December 2011, but Sensis revenues plummeted 24 percent in 12 months.
Anti-virus and internet security software provider, AVG Technologies, has acquired Sana Security, a California-based security company and developer of identity theft prevention software.
AVG, which claims to have over 80 million users
around the world, described Sana’s technology as protecting against
threats in a similar way to the human immune system.
In a statement released simultaneously in Melbourne and Amsterdam, CEO
of AVG, JR Smith, said the transaction marked another successful
milestone in its corporate growth strategy to continually improve
internet security coverage for individuals and small businesses and
expanded its global footprint.
Smith said that as the “threat landscape evolves with more
sophisticated online attacks to steal personal information”, Sana’s
technology complements AVG’s existing portfolio by delivering
continuous threat detection and automatic removal of malicious software
proactively.
Sana Security’s personnel, together with its research organisation Sana
Labs, will be integrated into the AVG organisation and maintain offices
in Silicon Valley.
