Could it really be true – an ISP in Australia offering broadband with
no download caps? A new ISP called “myKP” says it will offer just that
from January 26 but “initially” only on a limited basis in areas that
can already access myKP’s Free Wi-Fi - although the service is expected
to be offered to "everyone" in a "not too long" timeframe.
Calling itself “Australia’s newest ISP”, myKP has come out with the
startling claim that it will soon be offering broadband Internet access with “no download caps”.
Called the “myKP Hero Platform”, it will go live on January 26, Australia Day, with interested parties able to visit the
myKP website to “pre-register for an information pack”.
Unfortunately it’s not an Australia-wide rollout as yet, although myKP says it hopes to offer the service to “everyone”, so existing broadband users shouldn’t get ready to ditch whoever they’re currently with.
Given it’s a bold offer that could well be abused by P2P downloaders seeking the latest TV shows and movies, it’s impossible to know just how successful this service will be, or how long it will last, although myKP says it is “shaking up” the broadband industry in Australia.

About Us" page has a very “dot.com” style about it, with its spokesperson George Kaloudis calling himself the “Director of Stuff”, and the “About Us” page of the myKP site having a funny “secret of our success” recipe that sounds very irreverent.
Whether that is a good or bad thing all really depends on whether or not myKP can actually deliver the service it is now promising.
The “About Us” page says that “myKP was founded with the purpose of being a leader in promoting sustainanble communities.
“In fact, our work focused on sustainable development before the term became as popular as it is today. As a creative think-and-do-tank, we research, invent and test strategies that use resources more efficiently and more equitably.”

Kaloudis says of the new “no download caps” broadband offer that: “It’s time Australian Internet users had the access they’ve been asking for. We promised you myKP was more than just Free Wi-Fi.”
myKP says that “access will be offered initially on limited basis with myKP Free Wi-Fi Community residents the first to be able to access the Hero Platform.”
Kaloudis adds that: “Our Wi-Fi communities have enthusiastically supported myKP and will be the first to benefit, thanks largely to the innovative Local Councils and community groups that have supported our community project.”
Kym Fuller, Community and Economic Development Manager, Wilcannia Council said. "We are very excited to offer our residents a no download cap service. We are stuck with one radio station and one TV station but now we can listen to online radio and watch online TV without it costing more than a mortgage."
