Mobile operators get fixed price spectrum renewal in $3b Government windfall

Additional findings from the spending survey found that:

- 84% of Aussies are shopping around to drive down daily costs
- 2 in 3  monitor their mobile spend near the month-end to check their budget isn’t blowing
- More than half (52% of respondents) said their mobile was the main way they stayed connected

3 Mobile’s Director of Sales, Marketing and Product, Noel Hamill said “Mobiles are seen as an essential and while Christmas-time is when we’re more cash conscious than ever, it’s also a time when we want to be in closer touch with family and friends.

However Mr Hamill made no mention of being the surnamed namesake of the actor who played Luke Skywalker in the iconic Star Wars series, a man who knew a thing or two about cutting the cost of the Empire with his trusty lightsaber. Well, Luke did, not Mark.

- Set the call timer on your mobile and closely monitor the length of your call. The shorter the call, the cheaper the call.

- If you’re heading overseas this summer, check with your carrier what you’ll pay when using your mobile service. Find out about any network sharing arrangements that might extend across countries. 3 offers customers travelling to 3 countries overseas ‘Like Home’ rates, so you pay a similar rate to the one at home when you’re overseas on another 3 network and you don’t pay to receive a call.
