Telstra has revealed the addition of almost one million new mobile services in the six months to December 2011, but Sensis revenues plummeted 24 percent in 12 months.
Following on from yesterday’s announcement that Internode has joined
iiNet in offering unmetered access to ABC TV’s iView “TV-on-demand”
service, iPrimus has issued a press release today advising it has done
so, too – while expanding its unmetered offerings to a range of other
content. Rejoice!
The unmetered ABC iView revolution is starting to snowball, with three major Australian ISPs now offering access to the bandwidth heavy “TV-on-demand” service.
It’s great news for customers of iiNet, Internode (who made its announcement yesterday) and now iPrimus, and will see demand for iView grow to even greater heights.
iPrimus reminds us that ABC’s iView service provides access to six, high resolution channels streamed straight to the customers desktop, without having the data consumed by the service counted towards their monthly data allowance.
iPrimus’ General Manager of Marketing & Products, Andrew Sims said: “This is great for iPrimus’ customers as they can now enjoy a high quality ABC iView service on an unmetered basis.
“Unmetered content, including iView is excluded from our customers’ monthly download allowance, so they’re able to use their data allowance for other web sites and services on the web,” Sims continued.
Anyone that has used ABC’s iView service knows that iView updates its programs on a regular basis and its news and current affairs programs will be updated daily and weekly, while catch-up TV programs will be available for view up to two weeks after their screening on ABC 1 or 2.
Sims said: “Unmetered access to ABC iView is available to all iPrimus broadband customers. We’ve noticed an increase in customers viewing rich media, largely driven by video portals such as YouTube and as a result, we’ll be looking at some new and innovative content ideas in the New Year to meet customer demand.”
In conjunction with offering ABC’s iView service unmetered to its customers, iPrimus says it has “also started offering other unmetered content, including the iPrimus Gaming Network (iPGN), Lingo (VoIP), File Mirror (games, software patches, drivers and various other files) and the iPrimus Website, Toolbox and Webmail services.”
