The first .tel domains are now on sale

IT Industry - Strategy

Telnic says it is “working closely with NeuStar and validation agent Deloitte within this two-month Sunrise period.”

Founded in 2000, Telnic Limited is the UK-based Registry Operator and Sponsoring Organization for the new .tel sponsored top level domain (sTLD).

.tel has now launched to trademark holders on December 3, 2008 and everyone else on February 3, 2009.

Telnic says “the .tel is a new top level domain that provides a communications hub for centralizing and publicizing contact, location and marketing information.

“A tel domain provides organizations with a branded domain, accessible from any device connected to the internet, in which they can structure unlimited amounts and types of contact information, stored as data, not web content.

“Customers can then search and find dynamic, up-to-date contact information efficiently, with click to communicate connectivity. .tel domains are also search engine optimized through the structured nature of the information stored in the domain and additional support for storing multi-lingual keywords at every level of the domain.

“All of this is provided without any further investment over and above cost of purchasing the domain name, such as website building and maintenance, web hosting or other services normally associated with domain name hosting. It also requires no technical skill to set up, being managed by a simple dashboard.”
