The six new phones being launched by Telstra are as follows.
First up is the “EasyTouch Discovery phone”. Billed as being “ideal for seniors and those seeking a simple, easy-to-use phone”, it has an “easy to read display and simple menu layout, oversized buttons and larger text for easy dialing and a loud speaker phone for clear sound”.
In addition, the phone is “Blue Tick” rated for rural and regional use, as well as in-city use of course, and has an RRP of AUD $349, or is available on a $20 plan over 24 months.
The second of Telstra’s new phones is the 165i Country Phone. This one is being billed as being “smaller and faster than the original” while still retaining the “Blue Tick rating so has excellent regional coverage as well as durability”.
If you’re a farmer, a regional customer, or someone who just wants this particular model, Telstra wants you to know that is has a retro-style extendable antenna for “enhanced coverage”, while still having modern features like Bluetooth and AGPS.
It’ll sell for $529, or you can get it on a $30 plan over 24 months.
Third on the list is Nokia’s new N96 smartphone, the successor to the N95. Packed with 16GB of memory, and able to take up to 32GB more through microSD card slots (although 16GB microSD cards are currently the biggest), it has a 5 megapixel camera, 640x480 video camera, GPS and stacks more.
This phone’s a whopping $1499 to buy outright, or you can pay $150 a month over 24 months.
