SAP Australia scores 1000th SME customer

IT Industry - Strategy

Cooking appliance distributor Eurolynx has become the one thousandth SME customer of SAP Australia.

SAP Business One, the company's system aimed at the small and medium sized enterprise market (defined by SAP as companies with revenues of up to $A50 million per year) was launched in 2003.

"One thousand SME customers is a significant milestone for SAP and our partner community in Australia," said Alan Hyde, CEO and managing director, SAP Australia and New Zealand.

“We started on this journey in late 2003 with just a handful of SME customers. To reach 1000 customers in four years means around four new SMEs a week are choosing SAP to run their business."

The company also offers SAP Business All-In-One for companies with revenues of up to $A1 billion.

"There weren’t many software options for small and medium size businesses three years ago," said Leia Colbert, managing director of Eurolinx, "but since then we’ve seen many vendors launching specific SME software packages.

"We evaluated four options before selecting SAP and [channel partner] Key Business Solutions, which came out on top in terms of ease of use, inventory management and which provided a tight fit with our business requirements."

Other SME customers in Australia include Acromet, Chandru International, Cogstate, Emperor's Mind, General Pants, Huon Aquaculture, PABX Sales and Service, Playcorp, Rusty, Sass and Bide, Skins, Taylors Wine, and Viscount Rotational Mouldings.

SAP has chosen to develop software for the Australian market in Singapore rather than onshore.
