Construction needs cloud flexibility

Australia’s embattled construction sector could benefit from cloud based information systems that can be switched on and off in lockstep with individual projects – with the exception of those organisations based in remote areas like the Kimberleys.

iPhone gets a dose of mojo

IT Industry - Market

Anthony "The PDA Guy" Caruana's iPhone Mojo provides a one-stop destination for news, rumours, speculation and opinions about Apple's forthcoming (and thanks partly to Cisco, sometimes controversial) mobile phone.

"With iPhone Mojo I'm trying to bring together the views of an enthusiast and writer," says Caruana. "It's a chance for me to write freely about topics I'm passionate about - mobile technology and the Appleverse."

"I'm able to react quickly to items of interest and to do more than just a bunch of 'me too' reporting that is so prevalent on other blogs. While I do point people to other blogs that are interesting I try to analyse what they're finding to give it some local context and to make meaning of the data."

Caruana is also trying to bring an Australian slant to the subject: "I was the first to break [the news] that Apple [Australia] is doing some testing of the iPhone already."

He expresses concern that US-based bloggers get more attention than they perhaps deserve: "local guys largely struggle. Hopefully, by delivering high quality content regularly the world will see that we're able to do great work."

In addition to his iPhone Mojo and The PDA Guy blogs, Caruana teams with psychologist Les Posen to deliver "Cyberpsych meets the PDA Guy" - a Mac-oriented podcast that appears when there's something worth saying instead of sticking to a fixed schedule - and with four other IT journalists (including iTWire's Adam Turner and Stephen Withers) on Hydrapinion (a pro blog covering work, home, mobile, security and creative aspects of IT).

He also writes for a variety of print publications, mainly about mobile and consumer technologies.
