Discount online retailer, Kogan, is again beating the drum on another win over its major rivals, not this time on drastically reduces prices, but with the number of fans in its Facebook community. The “milestone” coincided with Kogan’s release of its new Facebook Deals app.

According to founder and chief spruiker, Ruslan Kogan, his company Facebook community today hit 200,000 fans, beating rivals Samsung, LG, Harvey Norman and JB Hi Fi to the milestone, and was testament to the fact that “when you give shoppers exactly what they want, you'll be able to create a passionate, loyal following.”

He said the huge online community centred on the Kogan brand and was also a testament to their ability to listen to feedback and engage their fans in true two-way dialogue.

"We know that the only way that Kogan will continue to grow as fast as it has is if we keep giving our customers exactly what they want. That's why we've introduced The Kogan Deals app.

“Even in the early days of our Facebook community, we knew that listening to feedback and actioning it would help us grow. The initial response to these crowdsourced deals has been outstanding - with tens of thousands of votes pouring in over the weekend,” Kogan claimed.

In a slap at his major competitors, Kogan said that while the company was proud of reaching 200,0000 fans on Facebook, it knew it's not just about the quantity – “It's about truly engaging with the community in mutually beneficial dialogue. Too many companies use social media as a broadcast tool to ram vouchers and coupons down their customer's throats.”
