US-based software developer, Matrixx Software, has expanded into the Asia Pacific region with the appointment of a new regional head and the signing of a strategic partnership agreement with systems integrator, Atos, which has a strong presence in the APAC market.

Matrixx VP of Global Sales, Matt Taylor, announced the appointment of John Kara as APAC chief. Kara ran Logica’s consulting business in Japan, and built Logica’s systems integration business throughout the APAC region. He was also Managing Director of LHS’ business in the Middle East, Africa and Asia, and more recently was Head of OSS/BSS for Ericsson in South East Asia.

Taylor said the appointment of Kara to head the APAC operations opened up “new geographical territory, particularly in Singapore, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia and Malaysia – all markets which are experiencing explosive growth.”

According to Taylor, the Atos partnership would significantly expand MATRIXX Software’s reach into the Asian marketplace by utilising Atos’ extensive organisational coverage across Asia and its Telco centres of expertise in Malaysia and India, and the company was well positioned to implement and support Matrixx solutions across the APAC region.

“The Asian marketplace is experiencing rapid growth of pre-paid subscribers and data services. Our technology and vision resonate with Communications Service Providers in the region who have lost confidence in the ability of current commercial billing systems to keep pace with the growth,” Taylor concluded.
