Telsyte and the Australian Interactive Media Industry Association (AIMIA) have partnered to produce the second edition of Digital Nation, a compendium of research and commentary on the digital lifestyle of Australian consumers.
Telsyte research director and the book's co-author Foad Fadaghi said with the Australian technology landscape changing rapidly the research findings published in Digital Nation will help organisations understand how consumers are adapting to that change.
Fadaghi said that following the success of the first edition published last year, Digital Nation 2012 includes up-to-date market research covering smartphones and tablets, social media trends, e-commerce and group buying, new devices and services, attitudes towards technology, personal cloud computing and entertainment and online gaming.
'Digital Nation provides a view of how people are changing their technology usage, such as the shift to smartphones, media tablets and apps,' Fadaghi said.
Telsyte senior analyst and the book's co-author, Rodney Gedda said organisations needed to be constantly abreast of emerging technology trends - from a vendor and consumer perspective - 'to avoid becoming irrelevant in the digital age.'
'If more people are using cloud services for tasks they traditionally performed offline or via telephone, then Australian businesses need to adapt to this paradigm shift,' Gedda said.
And, according to AIMIA Chief Executive Officer John Butterworth, with the 2012 edition of Digital Nation, digital devices, content, services and applications were now seen as mainstream in Australian society and consumers were becoming more comfortable with the rapid changes in digital technologies. 'Digital Nation provides an important contemporary snapshot of our ever-evolving nation in the digital age,' Butterworth added.
Fadaghi said that the easy-to-read 'infographic' style and design of Digital Nation made the book ideal for reception areas and coffee tables at any company 'interested in the future of technology in Australia.' The book is published in a hardcover edition with a distinct black cover.
Digital Nation 2012 is available for purchase - with discounts for bulk orders - online through the on-demand book publishing service Blurb for $99 (excluding delivery) at http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/2735692.
