AIMIA releases tablet advertising guidelines

IT Industry - Market

With a rapidly growing and maturing tablet market, the Australian Interactive Media industry Association has released guidelines for advertising on table devices which details opportunities and best practices for creating and selling ads on the devices.

AIMIA CEO, John Butterworth, says the guidelines have been designed around specific considerations to support an optimal experience for consumers, simplify the creation and delivery of advertising on tablet devices, reference international trends in tablet advertising, and to develop guidelines, where appropriate, that reflect specific Australian conditions and behaviours.

'As the tablet market in Australia grows and matures, the marketing and advertising opportunities are becoming difficult for brands to ignore. We saw a clear need to develop guidelines for the industry because of the unique nature of tablet advertising and specific considerations that go along with the platform and different ad formats available,' Butterworth said.

The AIMIA Guide to Tablet Advertising offers recommendations to agencies and advertisers on how to make advertising more effective and engaging, and Butterworth said the association anticipated that the guidelines would be reviewed periodically as the tablet advertising industry grew and matured.

The guide, sponsored by Oomph, was developed in consultation with Oomph, Google, Snakk Media, Optus, Ikon Communications, Fairfax Media, Maxus Global, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Venture One and Telsyte.
