Go fetch the new apps for iPhone, iPad

fetchTV has just launched free mobile applications for the iPhone and iPad, available through iTunes, with the new apps able to apps turn a smart device into a fully interactive remote control with rich content browsing capability.

The new apps are available on iOS (iPhone - 3G and above, iPad and iPod Touch) from today and on Android from quarter one next year, and have been developed by FetchTV and its ISP partners to further enhance the user experience.

fetchTV CEO, Scott Lorson, said 'fetchtv is a new breed of entertainment experience designed to cater to the evolving needs of Australian consumers.  One of the key trends in recent years has been the proliferation of smart phones and tablets. Whilst the TV continues to be the dominant viewing screen for entertainment, we see the smart phones and tablets as the ideal companion devices to enable an integrated and interactive three screen experience across the TV, tablet and smart phone.'

According to Lorson, the fetchtv app offers 'significantly greater functionality' than the standard TV applications available in the market, and will form a key part of the fetchtv enhanced user experience.

The fetchtv app allows users to:

'¢    Preview movies: Watch trailers and browse the on-demand movies available on fetchtv - and then rent them to watch on the fetchtv set top box when you get home;

'¢    Record TV: Browse the local TV guide to find out what's on, schedule recordings from the TV Guide and manage them in My Stuff (fetchtv's file management system);

'¢     Replace the remote control: Use the mobile device like a remote control while at home; and

'¢    Interact with the service and social media:  Added functionality to share movies or programs on Facebook or Twitter, or by email or text message.
