Telstra has revealed the addition of almost one million new mobile services in the six months to December 2011, but Sensis revenues plummeted 24 percent in 12 months.
New research just released this week reveals that Asian developers are readily adopting Java EE 5, with over 36% using it today. That’s a 200% increase from six months ago, and twice the adoption rate that North America is experiencing. Looking ahead, two thirds of APAC developers are expecting to use it next year.
The first volume of Santa Cruz-based IT market reearcher Evans Data
Corp’s APAC Development Survey also showed that Microsoft .NET is
holding strong with 75% of Asian developers using the architecture and
13% doing so exclusively.
Developers expect interaction between .NET and Java applications with more than half seeing it as important.
“These results speak to the superior technical strength of both managed
code languages,” said John Andrews, president of Evans Data. “It’s a
tribute to both communities given that the bar for feature rich and
high performance applications continues to rise, and both are meeting
the challenge.”
Other findings from the May 2006 survey of more than 400 developers in the Asia-Pacific region:
• 35% of Asian developers targeting Java technologies write Web services for use outside the company firewall.
• Two thirds of APAC developers say that their companies have had at
least one security breach in the last year. That’s twice as many
breaches as North American developers are reporting.
• 26% of developers say the biggest barrier to implementing security is social engineering.
