Australian IT executives group, The CIO Network, has formed a sub-group called the Manufacturing Focus Group, a consortium of leading manufacturing organisations from a range of industries. The group of senior IT executives, chaired by global packaging company Amcor, will meet to address common industry challenges and share best practice methodologies.
Along with Amcor, founding members of the group come from a wide range
of industry backgrounds from pharmaceuticals and food to security and
personal hygiene. Founding members include:
• Amcor (Chair)
• Fosters
• GlaxoSmithKline
• George Weston Foods
• Onesteel
• Sealed Air Corp.
• National Foods
• SCA Hygiene
• Tenix
• Tyco Fire & Security
• Unilever
Key areas that have been identified for discussion by the group include
supply chain management, compliance and governance, legacy systems,
security strategies, ERP maximisation and cost rationalisation
strategies, as well as others.
Rob Pyne, CIO of Amcor Ltd believes the group will provide a solid
foundation from which to grow knowledge and share experiences
throughout the manufacturing sector. He said, “IT departments are under
constant pressure to deliver more, but create fewer costs. I believe
the ability to share real world experiences amongst this group, in a
forum specifically designed for this purpose, has the potential to add
significant value to our businesses.”
