The winning web sites of the 2010 Amber Awards have been announced following a survey of 2500 Australians and lab testing of the highest rated sites.

According to the organisers, the winners were drawn from the complete field of all online services in Australia then long listed to a group of more than 250 of the most used services. "These were shortlisted by national survey and then lab tested to determine today's best online services in the hearts and minds of Australian customers."

"The Amber Awards research process is one of the largest independent reviews of digital services in Australia that combines what people think with rigorous under-the-bonnet testing using real customers and real customer accounts, " said Paul McCarthy, co-founder of the Amber Awards and independent chair of the Amber Awards process.

Charis Palmer, co-founder and Editor of Online Banking Review. added: "In the online banking category, from a strong field of finalists there was one strong stand-out: Suncorp Internet Banking, which was also ranked second in the list of most-loved web services across all categories."

However, according to McCarthy, "Despite Australians' high level of satisfaction with online banking, lab testing helped to highlight services customers value most in a 'test drive' environment, which saw travel, retail and government services emerge more strongly.'

The winners in these popular categories of Online Travel, Online Retail and Online Government were Wotif, Witchery and the Bureau of Meteorology.

Lists of the winners and the finalists are available on the Amber Awards web site www.amberawards.com.au.
