Consulting firm, Pitcher Partners IT, has acquired the IMPOWER software development business which the firm says will allow it to expand its offering to clients with a comprehensive range of portal, collaboration and business intelligence solutions.

Pitcher Partners IT director, Robert McKie said IMPOWER staff and account managers have relocated to the company in Melbourne and will continue to be involved in providing 'quality services to the firm's clients.'

According to McKie, the acquisition now sees the firm as a 'principal player in the IT consulting space in Melbourne with the acquisition effectively seeing a 40% growth for the firm's IT division in Victoria.'

'IMPOWER's software development primarily focuses on Microsoft technologies with an excellence in SharePoint portal and collaboration solutions, and the acquisition will extend the existing skills and resources of our MS SharePoint practice.

'We are now able to offer a comprehensive business solution and run larger projects in the SharePoint space because of the scaleability and size of projects that we can now embark on.

'It is an opportunity to bring together staff, tools and resources to provide our clients with an extended range of IT Consulting and Development services.  It also means our traditional IT consulting services, such as IT Strategy, System Selection, Vendor and Project Management will complement our MS SharePoint practice.'

McKie said expanding Pitcher Partners IT Consulting's SharePoint practice will provide an additional pool of resources to draw on, 'thereby providing greater flexibility in scheduling of assignments as well as an improved level of management around project delivery and support.'
