OzHub, the Macquarie Telecom-led cloud computing alliance, has come down firmly on the side of Optus over the copyright controversy surrounding Optus TV Now, warning that any moves to change the law "risk branding Australia a global luddite state."
Diversified power management group, Eaton Industries, has launched its PowerAdvantage Partner Program which the company says aims to provide Australian resellers with a “simple and rewarding program for driving revenue.”
Darren Butterworth, national channel manager, Power Quality at Eaton said the program, designed directly by the value added reseller (VAR) community, the offers “compelling competitive advantages in support of growing revenue streams for the company’s range of Power Quality and UPS solutions.”
Butterworth said the program features two levels of participation which provide flexibility for channel companies of all sizes. “The authorised level is designed for long-term support of VARs who want to offer power solutions without building in-house expertise. It has business development features including lead generation, a deal registration program, demonstration program, MDF and a dedicated channel development manager.
“Everyone joins at the authorised level and they automatically get an up-front rebate at IT distribution, so they can plan for that discount in their bidding. The rebate is stackable with all other discounts.”
According to Butterworth, the certified level is designed for VARs and systems integrators who want to go further and build a focused power practice. “Once they have been authorised for six months, VARs and systems integrators can apply to the certified level. The benefits improve, the upfront rebate doubles and certified partners get first priority in lead generation. The major difference between the authorised and certified partners is in the level of training achieved.
“Organisations can gain certification either through qualifying as Power Quality Design Consultants or as Power Efficiency Consultants. An annual business development plan is also required and Certified partners pledge to drive at least 20 per cent of power revenue through Eaton. As a result, the program helps channel partners to grow their business in a way in which best suits their own business strategy while ensuring that end user customers have the best power quality solutions available on the market today.”
According to Butterworth, Eaton’s power quality portfolio encompasses a comprehensive offering of power management solutions from large three phase industrial solutions to blade and rack solutions for the data centre to desktop protection solutions. “Unlike other vendor offerings, the Eaton PowerAdvantage Program offers resellers the opportunity to build and manage their business and generate demand with up front rebates. Our aim is to ensure that channel partners have the right expertise and support for any given opportunity in the market.”
In Australia, Eaton’s contracted IT distributors are Altech Computers, Avnet Technology Solutions, Bluechip Infotech, BMS Technology (SA), Multimedia Technology and Synnex Australia.
