IT contract bonanza ahead - get in for your chop

Long-term IT contracts worth tens of billions of dollars are coming up for renewal.


Technology analyst firm Ovum has been digging around the market, and has come to the conclusion that $US37.5 billion of long running IT contracts are set to expire in the next six months.

These contracts are with organisations around the world, but the biggest opportunities for IT providers are in the financial services, energy and  utilities, and communications industries. Other hot sectors are government and not-for-profit, aerospace and defence, and life sciences.

Research director Ian Charlesworth referred to "hundreds of contracts ranging in value from $US1 million to $US1 billion potentially coming onto the market in the next few months".
