Bazaarvoice launches ANZ social commerce operation

IT Industry - Market

Hosted social commerce applications company, Bazaarvoice today launched its first operations in Australia and New Zealand as it continues its international expansion, with offices already established in the  UK, France, the US and Singapore.

Headquartered in the UK, Bazaarvoice has established an office in Sydney and says the new Australian operation, as well as new offices in Germany and Benelux, is part of a plan to double the size of its international business in the next 12 months.

The company has appointed a 17-year sales veteran, Graham Jackson, as ANZ managing director. Jackson joins Bazaarvoice from Skinkers and he said today that the company already has customers in Australia including Jetstar, DealsDirect, Vodafone Hutchinson, Surfstitch, GraysOnline and Dick Smith.

Jackson said the company’s social commerce technology and its Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solutions drive sales by “enhancing the online shopping experience, and “allow consumers to review products, ask and answer questions and share stories online, to make more informed and rewarding purchase decisions.”

“At Bazaarvoice, we partner with the world’s leading brands to help them harness the power of the customer voice. From our new Sydney office, we will further grow aggressively in the Australian and New Zealand markets. We expect adoption to be similar to the UK, where over 80 per cent of shoppers were expected to reference customer reviews last Christmas.”

Bazaarvoice says its international expansion to Australia & New Zealand, as well as Germany and Benelux, follows rapid growth in its overseas client base.

According to Jackson, the number of UK customers more than doubled last year (up 115%), whilst the rest of Europe and APAC saw explosive growth of 275 per cent and 400 per cent respectively.
