Telstra has revealed the addition of almost one million new mobile services in the six months to December 2011, but Sensis revenues plummeted 24 percent in 12 months.
IBM is claiming a series of competitive wins against Microsoft. Big name companies are said to be choosing Lotus products over Microsoft's collaboration software.
Several years ago, it seemed that Lotus Notes and Domino were on a downward slide, with regular reports of organisations switching to Exchange and associated Microsoft products.
Now, IBM claims that since 2008, more than 15,000 companies have chosen its products over Microsoft's. (Naturally, IBM isn't saying how many companies chose Microsoft over Lotus in the same period.)
The list of companies that have switched to or expanded the use of Lotus software includes BASF, Chrysler, The Coca-Cola Company, Colgate-Palmolive, General Motors, GlaxoSmithKline, Novartis and Phillips Electronics.
"IBM collaboration software is winning against Microsoft worldwide. We've expanded our customer and partner base significantly, and our footprint within companies with both environments," said Bob Picciano, general manager, IBM Lotus Software.
"Companies are looking at the aggregated value of IBM's Web 2.0, collaboration, and social software for their own roadmap to the future," he added.
IBM officials said several leading companies including US Bank, PNC Bank and Continental Tire that traditionally used both IBM and Microsoft are migrating away from Exchange and SharePoint to Lotus products.
"Our industry has undergone unprecedented changes in recent months," said Mark Dickelman, senior vice president, innovation, research and development for US Bank.
"Keeping up with economic developments and policy changes and the need to quickly communicate while innovating for growth would be nearly impossible with traditional methods, and that's why Lotus collaboration software will continue to be incredibly useful to us, especially in today's ever-changing banking environment," he added.
More than half of the global 500 corporations use Lotus Notes and Domino, IBM officials claimed.
