Adobe and Canon have refreshed a deal that will see Adobe technology built into Canon's latest office machines. And we're not just talking about PostScript.
A new extension to a 2005 agreement between Adobe and Canon will see a variety of Adobe's technologies put to work in Canon imageRunner Advance products.
While PostScript - specifically PostScript 3 - is part of the deal, there's more to it than that.
The new Canon systems will feature a range of PDF technologies, including PDF Reader Extensions, PDF/A-1b archiving support, Optimize PDF for Web, Adobe PDF file formats and Digital Signatures.
Adobe LiveCycle Rights Management ES will also be integrated, allowing customers to apply LiveCycle document security policies to scanned documents.
"Working with industry-leading partners such as Adobe has allowed us to develop value added capabilities on the imageRunner Advance platform which we expect to deliver tremendous benefits to regional and global organisations," said Gary Horsfall, director, global sales and professional services, Canon business solutions, Canon Europe.
And Naresh Gupta, senior vice president, print and publishing at Adobe said "With the integration of Adobe PDF technology into Canon's leading office imaging products, enterprises will be able to turn paper documents into intelligent, policy-protected PDFs and further maximise their return on investment."
