Australia's peak communications industry body is preparing to help develop wholesale service models for the National Broadband Network (NBN).
The Communications Alliance has issued a discussion paper ahead of a series of forums later this month on the development of open-access wholesale service models for the NBN.
"There are a multitude of questions yet to be answered about the NBN's open-access wholesale service model. We hope this discussion paper will help participants identify questions and issues that can be raised at the Forums next week," said Anne Hurley, Communications Alliance CEO.
"Once we have a full understanding of key industry issues and priorities we will begin our program of works and provide constructive input to the Government's NBN Implementation Study," she added.
The paper canvasses several issues.
How will the proposed structure affect the roles and responsibilities of the NBN company and the service providers?
Will companies other than the NBN operator have access to poles and ducts to deploy their own fibre networks?
