Juniper Networks has enhanced its security offerings by upgrading its existing range of network security devices and software so that individual units work in concert and are able to be centrally managed and monitored as an integrated whole.
The overall product set has been dubbed the Juniper Networks Adaptive Threat Management Solutions. Specifically it comprises one new product, the Juniper Networks SRX3000 Series Services Gateways and new releases of several current products: a new release of Juniper's network access control (NAC) solution, Unified Access Control 3.0; new Secure Access (SA) SSL VPN technology with new standards-based interoperability functionality; and new releases of Juniper Networks Security Threat Response Manager and of Its Network and Security Manager with network management, threat response and reporting.
Matt Miller, Juniper's lead systems engineer for Juniper Australia and New Zealand, told ExchangeDaily that this ability of Juniper's individual security products to work together under a single management system was "a unique differentiator" for the company.
He contrasted this to the situation in a large financial services organisation customer of Juniper. "They have 14 management platforms and they don't use any because none can give them visibility of their entire architecture," claiming that: "There is not one vendor out there [other than Juniper] who can do that."
Miller added that Juniper's Networks Adaptive Threat Management Solutions could be applied across a wide range of networks of vastly differing sizes: from small enterprises with upwards of 50 uses to large enterprises or government departments with many thousands, and to large service provider networks. He also claimed that implementation of Juniper's Networks Adaptive Threat Management Solutions in a 10,000 user network could save an organisation around $1.5m year through productivity gains.
"This is really resonating with customers they are starting to see the full end to end value of Juniper. Before we built out this portfolio they saw us more as a secure access vendor or a firewall vendor there is not other vendor who can provide the same complete solution as we can and at scale, from enterprise up to service provider," Miller said.
