The Government has offered Australia's three mobile operators, and vividwireless, renewal of their existing spectrum allocated on 15 year licences in the late 90s and early 2000s at set prices, while the Government expects to rake in $3 billion.
IP telephony systems manufacturer, Tadiran Telecom, has named Mike Montgomery, a 20 year veteran of Australia's Telecom industry, country manager for Australia following a strategic decision to expand its presence in Australia with new partners and solutions, including the Australian launch of its Coral Sea softswitch.
This initiative follows the collapse late last year of one of its distributors, Australian Communications Consortium (ACC). Tadiran already has significant presence in the Australian market through Fujitsu Australia which has been distributing its products for more than a decade. ACC took on the Tadiran products in 2006. However it ran into difficulties in late 2008 as a result of the economic crisis, according to Tadiran.
At the time Zeev Aviv, VP sales and marketing for Tadiran said: "We see this setback as an opportunity to refresh and deepen our connection with the Australian market...Our past success with Fujitsu Australia has led to a very impressive installed customer base which, coupled with our great IP solutions, present tremendous opportunities for Tadiran Telecom in Australia."
Montgomery has held numerous senior management and marketing roles including positions at Fujitsu and ACC. He said: "There is already an impressive installed customer base that enjoys the reliability and flexibility of these communication solutions.
