21 Mbps wireless router coming from NetComm

IT Industry - Market

NetComm will help subscribers take full advantage of forthcoming 21 Mbps mobile broadband services with an HSPA+ capable wireless router.

Telstra has announced its plans to roll out a 21 Mbps mobile broadband service, but the Telstra Turbo 21 modem won't be the only device that can take advantage of the higher speed.

The faster a link is, the more likely you'll want to share it between multiple devices.

And that's where NetComm's 3G21W HSPA+ wireless router comes into the picture.

Like Telstra, NetComm used the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona as a platform for the announcement.

The 3G21W will be able to share a HSPA+ connection via 802.11n Wi-Fi as well as its four Ethernet ports.

NetComm claims the 3G21W will be the first device of its kind to operate at 21 Mbps using the HSPA+ (Evolved High Speed Packet Access) standard.

Both the NetComm 3G21W and the Telstra Turbo 21 are built around Sierra Wireless HSPA+ components.

"Carriers that are investing in the 21Mbps network are relying on devices that will keep them ahead of the rest and deliver the best possible speeds," said NetComm managing director, David Stewart.

"The development of the 3G21W demonstrates NetComm’s leadership in this technology and we are committed to delivering the best possible solutions to carriers and their customers."
