When Apple announced MobileMe last June, it promised a feature for sharing files too large for delivery by email. Missing from the original bundle, this service has finally arrived.
MobileMe is Apple's pay-to-play collection of online services including email, data synchronisation and web hosting - a revamped version of the former .Mac offering.
The service had a rocky launch with
outages on the opening day and various other problems causing angst among users.
Customers first received an apology and a
30-day subscription extension, and then
a further 60 days - even for those with free trial subscriptions.
But Apple eventually got things under control and MobileMe has been generally reliable for some time now.
The company has been working on improvements such as
speeding up synchronisation with Outlook and implementing promised features.
Late last week, Apple announced the arrival of the file sharing feature.
As originally promised, MobileMe "makes it easy to share documents too large to email by automatically sending an email with a link for downloading the file."
But could it have been made easier? See
