Mobile operators get fixed price spectrum renewal in $3b Government windfall

Cisco teams with Tata for data centre technology

Cisco and Indian IT giant, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) have struck a strategic alliance to develop and deliver technology for next generation data centres that take advantage of the network as a platform.


TCS will build a new technology practice focused on Cisco's data centre networking and security solutions and the two companies have set up a technology lab at the TCS campus in Chennai, India. Together they say are "developing go-to-market solutions that meet the infrastructure and network requirements of global corporations."

Both companies will invest in skills development and training labs to provide an end-to-end solution to meet customer requirements. TCS will combine Cisco's Data Centre 3.0 technologies with its IT services, business solutions and outsourcing practice to "help customers develop next-generation virtualised data centres and achieve greater operational and energy efficiency."

The companies say they will also "explore new networking innovations to address the needs of large and small businesses for IT services." Wim Elfrink, chief globalisation officer and EVP, Cisco Services, said: "The TCS and Cisco strategic alliance will initially focus on India as well as mutual enterprise customers in the United States and the United Kingdom in the key verticals of banking and finance services, telecom, and government as well as small and medium-sized business."

TCS is part of the Tata Group, India's largest industrial conglomerate, and has over 130,000 IT consultants in 42 countries.
