Updated software from Apple provides improved synchronisation between Microsoft Outlook and MobileMe. The change will be particularly welcomed by iPhone users.
MobileMe is a suite of online services from Apple that includes two-way calendar and contacts synchronisation between Mac OS X, Windows, iPhone and MobileMe's own calendar and contacts list.
The new MobileMe Control Panel 1.3 for Windows provides faster synchronisation with Outlook.
According to Apple officials, if synchronisation is set to automatic, it now occurs whenever a change is made in Outlook or MobileMe.
Another change is that a system tray icon is used to show when an automatic sync is happening.
Other functions of the control panel are to manage browser bookmark synchronisation and to simplify the use of MobileMe's iDisk online storage feature.
MobileMe Control Panel 1.3 requires iTunes 8.0.2, and works with Outlook 2003 or 2007 for calendar synchronisation.
You can download the new version from
Apple's web site or by using the Apple Software Update utility.
