Bushfires – We Need your Mobile Phone Chargers (Updated)

IT Industry - Market

Do you have any spare mobile phone chargers?  Bushfire victims need them urgently. Updated with contact information.

Many people have escaped from the ravaging bushfires in Victoria with little more than the clothes on their back and the phone in their pocket.  In order to stay in contact with family, friends and emergency services, these people need the ability to recharge their phones.

Right now, support services are collecting phone chargers to be delivered to the emergency accommodation centres.

I hear that Nokia have already contributed 300 phone chargers to the pool, but I would expect there are many other brands that also need charging.  Seems like the move to unify the power interface should have happened years ago, but at least it has happened (mini-USB in case you didn’t know).

So, households, small business, corporations – you all must have literally boxes of old chargers that are no longer needed.

I’m still awaiting details of where to drop off the chargers, but please take this as a request to find them and make them ready to be dispatched.

This article will be updated to give drop-off details as soon as they are available.

Update: According to the Our Community
website, all St Vincent de Paul Op Shops (Vinnies) will receive chargers - please label them for the bushfire victims.
