IT pros rank Apple ahead of other PC vendors

IT Industry - Market

Apple has achieved a high ranking on another customer satisfaction report - this time, one compiled from the opinions of IT professionals.

The VendorRate Year End Report 2008 is said to be the distillation of the opinions of more than 3000 IT professionals.

Apple's desktop and notebook business managed ninth place (equal eighth by my reading of the numbers). The overall score of 85 out of 100 put it in the "Exceptional" category.

The scoring system allows a maximum of ten points in each of ten categories.

No PC vendor achieved a spot in the top ten or even a top spot for an individual criterion. Generally speaking software and SaaS companies did better than hardware providers.

Here's the top ten:

ChemSW
Informix
Salesforce.com
Intel
IBM Server & Systems
Hewlett-Packard Printers
Amazon Web Services
VMware
Apple Desktop-Notebook
Research in Motion
